Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Since I had a Visioneer One Touch already installed on my computer (The reason I bought this one is that the last one died. I got great service from the previous one)., I assumed the installation would go without a hitch. To date, I have been unsuccessful in installing the software and the scanner is sitting on my desk with my "in box" on top of it. I haven't had the time to sit on the phone, going through the long "automated" help menus.I haven't given up yet, but neither do I have a working scanner.
Very simple scanner: pulls all the power it needs from a USB port with no outlet needed. I use it to scan pages out of my books for school. and so far it has been perfect for that.
The price was excellent but the standard shipping was very slow. It doesn't work with Vista, no drivers, so is useless to me. I gave it to my son and it works fine with Windows XP. My son has used it to scan pictures for me and it is of good quality.
The company told me that they stopped selling this product over a year ago and there are no driver updates available for this product. I was very excited to buy this scanner and was pleased with its size and weight. However, if you have a Vista operating system, like I do, IT WILL NOT WORK. If you have an older computer and an older operating system this product might work for you. But as for me it was a waste of money.
It didn't do this the first couple times, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I only ordered this product because I absolutely needed one and did not have a lot of cash at the time. However, It was pretty cheap as far as scanners go, and it's thin and lightweight and very simple to use. What it does scan shows up nice and clearly, but the bottom inch or so of the scan area doesn't seem to want to scan usually. I end up having to push the paper up over the top and leave an inch of blank space at the bottom so that I actually get the bottom portion of the paper to scan. It should be noted that I only scan assignments for class, all in black and white and not any photos. I'm not sure how well it operates for those conditions.
